Water Safety Week
April 2-5, 2018

The YMCA of Greenville has partnered with Upstate Pool Management to offer Water Safety lessons to the community of Greenville, SC. The Water Safety Week program is built upon two fundamental components: Safety Around Water and water confidence. We will be teaching all participants -- from ages 6 months to adult -- basic comfort and survival swimming skills while working toward building confidence around water.

We will also be teaching participants how to react and respond if there is a drowning emergency. The danger areas and topics we will teach are backyard pools, waterfronts, recreational or community pools, and boats and watercraft safety. Our trained and certified instructors will be working with volunteers to pass this knowledge onto all that participate in our program.

This Safety Around Water program is free, but we do require registration as spots are limited. We are offering this program at all three YMCA of Greenville branches with access to pools: Eastside Family YMCA (Taylors), Caine Halter YMCA (Downtown), and Y Program Center (Simpsonville).

WATER SAFETY KNOWLEDGE makes everyone smart from the start! The Safety Around Water program is built on a foundation of overall safety and risk prevention that reflects the Y’s commitment to the well-being of all. Join us for one of our morning or afternoon sessions at one of our three branches. Sessions run for 30 minutes. Water Safety Week is free to our community.”
