TAKE YOUR LOVE FOR THE WATER to the next level with the YMCA of Greenville Swim Academy. This specialized program teaches the basics of swim team and competitive swimming and helps advanced swimmers hone their skills. With the help from our qualified and experienced coaches, you'll learn sound stroke techniques, fundamental skills, and all the best race strategies that will help you become a more efficient, confident, and accomplished swimmer.

Register for Swim Academy at any YMCA of Greenville Welcome Center. 


  • Winter: Jan 8-Feb. 24
  • Spring I: Feb. 26-April 23
  • Spring II: April 23-June9
  • Fall I: Sept. 17-Nov. 3
  • Fall II: Nov. 5-Dec. 22


2 days/week for 7 weeks. Choose the two days Monday – Thursday that best fit your family's schedule. Four days per week available upon request.

Time Trials

Put the new skills to the test without the stress of competition during our optional time trials. All time trials are held at the YMCA Program Center in Simpsonville. Time trials start at 6 p.m.

The YMCA of Greenville Swim Academy is $100 for Y members or $180 for the community

Swim Academy Levels

Beginner (Bronze): Must be able to swim at least 25 yards with a strong breaststroke or freestyle. This is the optimal level for those just diving into the competitive swimming world and will focus on the basics.

Intermediate (Silver): Focus will be on perfecting stroke technique of the four competitive strokes while introducing racing starts and turns.

Advanced (Gold): Focus will be on stroke refinement and perfecting racing starts and turns while building endurance for longer distances. This is the optimal level for those wishing to compete in a competitive setting.
